Welcome to the Lightning Round

I’ve spent most of February trying to get a little personal. So, why would the last week be any different? I mean, it’s sort of different. I wanted to do something more fun! One thing came to mind; personality tests.

There is a wide variety of personality tests available via the internet. Are they all the same? How many personality types are there? Is there some accuracy behind these tests? I decided to test it out. Yes, that was intentional. Does that say more about my personality than these tests? Let’s find out together!

I chose three different personality tests. I’ll be honest I’m only familiar with one of these personality tests. I also Googled and picked the top two for comparison. I’m not sure on a scale from Tiger Beat to Myers Briggs where these land. But we’re going to find out!

The first test on the list was 16 personalities. It popped up during my Google search and seemed pretty legit. This test took me about twenty minutes to complete. We’ll learn shortly that all of these tests took me twenty minutes to complete. I could go through all of these questions, but it’s more fun to listen. Am I bias? Absolutely but I still give it a 10/10. According to 16 personalities, I have an advocate personality. I’d never heard of this personality before.

Advocate: Someone with the Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging personality traits. They tend to approach life with deep thoughtfulness and imagination. Their inner vision, personal values, and a quiet, principled version of humanism guide them in all things.

Being me, this felt sort of accurate.

Breakdown:
Introverted – 81%
Intuitive – 51%
Feeling – 68%
Judging – 75%
Turbulent – 63%

Sticking with the results, my strategy of choice is constant improvement. My role is as a diplomat. Advocates like to stand up for what’s right. They believe helping others is part of their life’s purpose. Advocates, though reserved, have their way of communicating. As far as success goes, advocates focus too much on their ideals. It can lead to burnout. They also like to have a mission in life.

We’ll keep this at surface level!

The second test I took was the Type Finder. This one didn’t provide as much information as the previous one. I’ll be honest I didn’t want to spend $19 to retrieve the full results. So, I settled for the bare minimum.

The counselor: Creative nurturers with a strong sense of personal integrity and a drive to help others realize their potential. Creative and dedicated, they have a talent for helping others with original solutions to their personal challenges.

The protector: Industrious caretakers, loyal to traditions and organizations. They are practical, compassionate, and caring, and are motivated to provide for others and protect them from the perils of life.

The mastermind: Analytical problem-solvers, eager to improve systems and processes with their innovative ideas. They have a talent for seeing possibilities for improvement, whether at work, at home, or in themselves.

Breakdown:
Introverted – 73%
Intuitive – 66%
Feeling – 69%
Judging – 74%

Not too far off from the first test. However, this one did have a lot of repeat questions.

The final test was an Enneagram. I was familiar with the Enneagram before taking the test. If you’d like to hear the entire breakdown of my results, be sure to subscribe to Off the Paigee now! I mean, why haven’t you already? I digress!

I’m a type 1 according to the Enneagram. Also known as the perfectionist. Is anyone surprised?

Type 1: Like to do things correctly and to high standards, are sticklers for rules, and pay close attention to detail. They also avoid making mistakes. To others, they appear perfectionistic, responsible, and exacting.

When you take the Enneagram, a lot of information is provided. So, I’m going to leave all that out. But leave you with some final thoughts!

I love taking these tests. It was fun to see the different types of personalities, especially not knowing how many. All of the questions felt similar. You never really need to take three, especially in a row.

Any of these tests are a good option, but I’d highly recommend the Enneagram. It has more information. It breaks down every aspect of your personality.

I wasn’t sure how this podcast was going to go. I also didn’t know how this blog post was going to go. I think it went pretty smoothly. I hope you all enjoyed it!
