13 Things To Do This Fall

Fall feels like home and I’m ready to be embraced by its cozy essence. Surrounded by sensational scents and brought back to life by its brilliant color.

This year looks different, but I don’t want to miss out on anything. With fall a little less than a week away it’s time to establish this years list. Are we surprised? Not even a little. Unless you’re new, in which case, welcome! I make lists for everything and fall is no exception. I always set out to accomplish a variety of activities throughout the season, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t forget some. So, last year I created my Fall Bucket List 2019 *highly recommend reading* and I did much more than I ever have. Why mess with a system that works? Some traditions never change, but there’s always room for more. What will we accomplish this year?

1. Pumpkin Spice Latte {PSL}

If you read When In Doubt Caffeine It Out then you’re familiar with the traditional. If you haven’t then you’re missing out!

2. Cooking

It’s the season of baked goods, but what about cooking? I always tell myself I’m going to cook more and somehow find every excuse not to. No more! Fall recipes capture some of the best aspects of fall i.e. sensational scents and ample amounts of comfort. It’s time to put my Pinterest board to the test, who’s with me?

3. Halloween Classics

Hello, Disney I’m looking at you!

4. Pumpkin picking//carving

Nothing encompasses fall more than a pumpkin patch. It’s one of those nostalgic things that won’t need to be compromised this year. There’s nothing wrong with heading out to a pumpkin patch alone or if you’re comfortable with someone it’s the perfect way to spend a day out.  It’s also the perfect excuse for a night in. Whether you’re a master carver or a passionate painter, anyone can decorate a pumpkin. Pinterest for another win? I think so.

5. Horror Marathon

I said it last year and I’ll say it again, I love horror movies. You never need an excuse to watch a horror movie, but spooky season is a perfect one.

6. Bonfire

Does anyone else love the smell of bonfires? There’s something so comforting about curling up in a blanket and sitting around a fire with friends. I missed out last year, but this just might be the ideal activity for social distancing.

7. Movie Night Outside

It’s not just horror movies that I love. It’s movies in general and unfortunately movie theaters still aren’t the most inviting place. If you read Movie Moment, then you know just how much I live for a good movie night. If you haven’t read it yet you’re going to want to do that next! With the weather getting cooler on the East Coast and the perfect excuse for horror movies, I think a movie night is in order. I think a horror movie outside on a projector by a bonfire is just what this fall needs.

8. Cider –Spiked and otherwise

A pumpkin spice latte is tradition, but cider is iconic.

9. Fall Picnic

It’s been such a long time since I planned a picnic. With a change in the weather and having been isolated for some time, a picnic is the perfect way to get out. There are a number of beautiful areas to take lunch or even dinner and just enjoy the season.

10. Treats

Do you know what to bring on that picnic? A ton of treats! I know I said cooking was a focus this season, but that doesn’t mean we can’t sneak a few treats. I love caramel apples. There are so many ways to customize them like, adding toppings or even doing a layer of chocolate. We also can’t forget the classics. Who doesn’t buy the first box of Halloween cookies they see? Is a cookie really worth eating if there isn’t a ghost or a pumpkin on it?

11. Football

I don’t sport, but I do love football. I don’t need to be packed into a stadium to enjoy a game. I just need the right atmosphere. Including, but not limited to family, friends, and maybe some good smack talk.

12. Adventures

Could I have said something anymore vague? Knowing me, probably. I don’t know what it is about the fall, but it fills me with more ambition than other seasons. It makes me want to get out and explore. Last year I wanted to take more walks. This year I want to bump it up a notch. Whether that’s attempting {emphasis on the attempting} hikes or checking out different parks. Haunted attractions and corn mazes might be off the table, but that doesn’t mean I can’t find my own haunted adventures. *Cue evil laugh*

13. H A L L O W E E N

It’s an absolute favorite of mine and I will continue to profess my love year after year. I’m not a big party girl, so the limitations brought on by current circumstances won’t really change my usual plans. Horror movies, good company, and candy corn for the night! Is there any other way to end spooky season?

Different looks good on fall and I couldn’t be more ready to experience it!
