Things To Do

Fall Bucket List 2019

Rich foliage, hot cider, and binge worthy excuses to spend a night in can only mean one thing: fall is finally here.  Fall is the embodiment of coziness. Days are illustrated by vibrant colors and scored by crisping leaves. Nights become dedicated to scary excursions and comfort food. It’s arguably the greatest time of the year.

I thrive when fall rolls back around. The season brings this sense of serenity and homey sensation. There are always so many things that I want to do, that I want to experience, but there’s never enough time. I always say that I’m going to do all of these things, like pick apples and binge all the classic horror flicks I missed out on as a kid, but I never do. So, this year I decided to create a bucket list, a tangible list to hold me accountable.

1) Pick Apples

It’s one of those simple activities that is acceptable to do before October and ties into a few other activities.

2) Baking

Nothing screams fall louder than freshly baked goodies. Whether it’s pumpkin related (who doesn’t love pumpkin muffins) or apple related (see those apples are already paying off) it’s an ideal day.

3) Corn Maze (Scary and Otherwise)

Traditional corn mazes were always a must accomplish as a kid. It’s always a good time, even as an adult, but not everyone’s first choice. Some people like to be scared while walking through mazes of corn. Personally, it’s a love/hate relationship.

4) Scary/Haunted Houses, Hayrides, Amusement Parks (pretty much anything)

So, maybe you hate corn, but still love being scared. There are a plethora of choices. It’s definitely a love/hate kind of experience. Not a fan of people invading personal space, but somehow end up being dragged to these things. I can’t say that I don’t enjoy it, definitely not my first choice.

5) Horror Flicks!

Horror attractions might not be my favorite, but set me up on a couch with endless horror movies and I’m good to go. I absolutely adore scary movies. There are so many emotions, like anticipation, the occasional sick feeling (some people take gore to new heights), and laughter (You know the movies I’m talking about. The ones that try to be so scary it’s laughable. And I’m not talking about the parodies.) Some of my favorite nights or rainy days are spent cuddled up in a huge blanket hosting my own movie marathon.

6) BLANKET FORT!

I realize that I am an adult, but you’re never too old to build a blanket fort. Just think about how aesthetically pleasing it would be, filled with cute pillows and fairy lights. All you need is your coziest blankets, fluffiest pillows, a box of string lights, and some really good snacks. Perfect place to watch those horror flicks!

7) Date Night

A date night in is probably one of my favorite ways to spend a night. I like the idea of being with the person I love in my most comfortable form (i.e. no makeup, comfy pants, and a oversized hoodie, preferably his {or hers}). There are so many ways to spend that time together and a lot of them are on this list. Just picture it: You’ve baked some apple goodies with the apples you picked earlier in the day. You’ve also whipped up some snacks to take into the blanket fort you’ve built together and you’ve compiled a list of horror movies to binge together. Can you think of a better night in?

8) Pumpkin Picking/Carving

I love pumpkins. I love pumpkin goodies, pumpkin seeds, physical pumpkins, and the color: LITERALLY everything. The second pumpkin coffee is available I know it’s time for fall, even if it’s 100 degrees outside. So, making sure I go pumpkin picking is always a must. I don’t always have time to carve the pumpkins that I pick, but this year I want to make the time. There is such a feeling of nostalgia with carving pumpkins. You can’t have Halloween without a carved pumpkin.

9) Halloween Classics

Every Disney Halloween movie

10) Fall Walks

I love getting outside, especially in the fall. There weather is perfect and the colors are vibrant, it just makes my soul feel happy. It’s a great way to clear your head. It’s also a lot of fun with friends human or four legged.

11) Photo Shoot

This just seems like such a fun idea and you can easily combine it with a number of things on this list. I’m talking about you apple picking! Think about all the wonderful content and vibrant colors! I’m slightly romanced by the idea of having a photo shoot, just getting out with someone and having a fun time.

12) Spooky Sleepover

I adore spooky season. I look forward to it every year and you can bet that I’m that girl grabbing her first pumpkin coffee in August. Growing up this was something I shared with two of my best friends. We love the fall, especially Halloween. As we got older it, it was harder for us to keep up with our Halloween traditions and binge watches. So, one night needs to be officially dedicated to spooky season. All of the scary movies, Disney Halloween classics, and pumpkin spice popcorn (because yes this exists and its delicious) that can be consumed in a span of 14 hours!

13) HALLOWEEN!

I freakin ‘ LOVE Halloween. It’s probably one of, if not my favorite holiday. I just love the vibe of Halloween and the idea of being someone else one night out of the year. My traditions have changed over the years (one of the worst things about being an adult: no trick or treating). I usually spend my Halloween night curled up with good company, candy corn (I love that stuff), and some really great horror flicks. I have no complaints, BUT I’ve never done a group Halloween before. This year I want to make it a point to get a bunch of friends together and do it up. Pick a theme and just have fun! Can you think of a better way to wrap up the spooky season?
