Is anyone in desperate need of change?
I strive for change in any and all capacities. I was that girl in college drastically changing her hair color from one side of the spectrum to the other, even chopping it when I needed a little excitement. The second time warranted instant regret. I’ve been in that “finding me” stage for the better part of my twenties and I attribute her missing status to my affair with change.
I’m a Gemini and although our reputation tends to proceed us {a.k.a the twins}, we have some inspiring aspects. We LOVE change. Is it because we get bored easily? Probably, but it keeps us fun.
I could look at quarantine season as the glass half empty. Life has become one constant and that constant is social distancing. Where the only change brought to your routine is weekly {or bi-weekly} grocery shopping. Optimism at its finest, right?
OR
I could look at quarantine season as the glass half full. There is ample opportunity for change. You’re probably saying to yourself, the only room for change is the sweatpants I’ve been in for two days and another series that I’ve finished on Netflix. And you know what, I’ve been there! I think we’ve all been there, but the longer isolation has gone on the more opportunity for change I’ve noticed.
It’s always the little things that make the most difference. This rule applies to most, if not all of life.
Routines: Who doesn’t love a good spruce of their routine? Routines, they’re redundant and repetitive, redundant and repetitive. {Maximum gold stars if you know the reference} Changing the order or the time of day you do something can have a big impact. Maybe you wake up an hour earlier. I know what you’re thinking and don’t think it. Just because there isn’t REAL motivation to get up doesn’t mean you can’t create some. An extra hour for accomplishing goals, if you haven’t read 20 things for 2020 and Here’s looking at you 2020, use that hour to do so. Or make that hour your hour and do something to your hearts content. Maybe you up your skin care routine and finally find your key steps to glowing, bomb skin. There are endless possibilities that come from minimal change.
Workouts: Looking for a bigger change, but with the same minimal effort? Then it might be time to test some new exercise methods. If you’re into a more intense exercise vibe, I completely understand, but I also understand it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. There are SO MANY exercise videos on YouTube with various levels of expertise {we love an inclusive mood}. It’s also a great way to target various areas. 10/10 recommend! Full transparency, incorporating walks have been a major change of pace. It’s an opportunity to get outside, soak in some vitamin D, and enjoy some fresh air. It’s also offered the ultimate change and incorporates social distancing. The game changers: where to walk, when to walk, and how long to walk.
Full quarantine mode: Has anyone else seen the #truthchallenge on Instagram? If you were on Facebook anytime after 09’ then you probably remember the like my “Tbh” status and I’ll tell you my truth about you trend. Giving all the nostalgia vibes or I’m simply aging myself, one in the same? Maybe. Everyone seems to be a little hard on themselves lately and people seem to be feeling down. 110% understandable! Some people have fully given into the quarantine way of life. Others have had to learn to adapt and maintain a much more regular rhythm {i.e. everyone working from home OR on the frontlines –thank you}. There are also those who have fluctuated between the two, trying to embrace bits of the quarantine life, but still maintain a sense of balance. I’m one of those and occasionally have been hard on myself when I’m not being more productive with my time. The #truthchallenge has made me feel less alone in that genre. It’s okay to have a day where you binge an entire season on Netflix. It’s okay to wear the same sweatpants more than once in a week. It’s okay to skip a workout and indulge your favorite takeout. The easiest change and most effective change might just be embracing isolation with open arms. Put aside productivity and guilt for a day and do it the quarantine way!
But first ask, is your glass half full or half empty?
