Christmas The 2020 Way

Happy Blogmas Day 12

We’ve made it to the halfway point. Who thought we’d make it this far? I’d be lying if I said I thought I’d make it. Nevertheless, we’re here. With Christmas Eve two weeks away and a small resurgence in the pandemic, I’ve been looking for ways to celebrate the holidays safely.

Where I live, we’re being advised to maintain our social distance. So, I’ve been looking for new ways to entertain my time. I also want to keep the holiday spirit alive. If you’ve been keeping up with Blogmas, then you might remember the list I put together last Saturday. If you haven’t read it yet; 15 Things To Do This Holiday Season.

I’ve put a few of those to the test. Virtual nights have become a staple. I’m not the most social person, but I do miss having social aspects in my life. I’ve combined my movie nights with my virtual gatherings. I know that I’ve mentioned virtual movie nights before, but who doesn’t love a good movie night? Movie haters, that’s who. Then add my Classic Christmas list. You’ll be golden! It’ll be like you’re having a holiday viewing party. Don’t forget the cozy cookies or popcorn!

Do you know what else you can do virtually? Baking. Does it sound strange? A little, but this is 2020; nothing is strange anymore. Propping up your phone or your laptop is so simple there’s no excuse not to do it. You’d be able to bake with anyone; a family member, significant other, or maybe a friend. That’s how I’m baking this year.

I’ve fancied myself a barista through most of quarantine. However, the holidays have me adding a little cheer to my drinks. On my list, I mentioned that hot chocolate is a holiday drink in my book. I decided to spice it up this year. Spicing my hot chocolate with peppermint vodka was one of the greatest decisions I’ve made this year. Fix yourself a spiked hot chocolate while you have your virtual baking date. When it’s movie time, you have a delicious drink and fresh-baked cookies for the showing. Does that sound like an ideal holiday date or what? It doesn’t have to be a romantic one either!

Virtual experiences aren’t the only ones I’m testing. Looking at the signature red and green Christmas lights are the most festive experience this year. So, tonight I’m taking a short drive around my area to see some magical lights. It’s the festiveness my soul is craving.

The holidays look different. That’s okay. We can still celebrate and be festive. It’s going to look different, but the most important thing is keeping every healthy and safe!
