How Popular Is Your Favorite Christmas Movie?

Happy Blogmas Day 17

It’s Thursday, which means it’s podcast day. If you didn’t know, I have a podcast called Off the Paigee. You can listen wherever you get your podcasts! Now that my shameless self-plug is out of the way, the first two episodes were my usual content. I decided to bring some holiday cheer to my feed. I already compiled a Classic Christmas list, so I let someone else make a list. I took to Google to find the most popular Christmas movies. In my search, I found a Buzzfeed article titled, 17 Most Popular Christmas Movies Ranked Worst To Best According To IMDb.

Let’s find out where I stand! How many controversial opinions will there be?

17. Jingle All The Way: This movie has been shown a surprising amount of love. It has a 5.5 rating with over 74,800 votes. I’ve seen this movie; it’s a cute story. But it’s not one of those movies I’m going to go out of my way to see.

16. How The Grinch Stole Christmas: The 2000 version starring Jim Carrey is shockingly low on this list. The movie has a 6.1 rating with 156,000 votes. I love this movie! My heart broke in two when I saw this. Am I the odd man out thinking this is a great movie?

15. The Santa Clause: This 1994 classic only has a 6.4 rating with 72,000 votes. How does this movie have fewer votes than Jingle All The Way? The Santa Clause is one of my favorite Christmas movies. It’s the first Christmas movie I watch every year. I’m not okay with this!

14. The Polar Express: Better known as Tom Hanks’ Christmas is the 2004 film about rediscovering the magic of Christmas. Surprisingly this film only has a 6.6 rating with 135,500+ votes. I don’t understand! The soundtrack is a bop. I mean, who doesn’t sing hot chocolate every time they make hot chocolate? It’s a must-watch every year!

13. Home Alone 2 Lost In New York: Yeah, this feels accurate. The sequel isn’t as loved as the original. But it still has a 6.6 rating with 229,000 votes. How is it more popular than The Santa Clause? Can someone explain this to me?

12. Elf: Two words, Will Ferrell. Need I say more? This quotable film has a not so surprising ranking. With only 163,000 votes and a 6.9 rating, it’s not as loved as everyone thinks it is. Even if I watch it every year, not making the top 10 feels right.

11. Scrooged: Bill Murray started in the film back in 1988. This film is barely cracking the top 10 with a 7 rating and 68,500+ votes. I can’t tell you the last time I saw this film. So, I wouldn’t put it on my list.

10. Home Alone: Need I say more? I freakin’ love this movie, but who doesn’t? Surprisingly, it only has a 7.5 rating with 354,000 votes. I’ve watched it every time it’s been on. It’s definitely in my top 5.

9. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation: How is this so low on the list? With only a 7.6 rating and 116,00 votes, people don’t know what they’re missing! My family and I watch this movie together every single year.

8. Love Actually: I take issue with this. Sure, it’s a great movie. But it doesn’t feel Christmas to me. Yes, it takes part during the holidays. But is that all we need to make it a holiday movie? I’m the odd man out. This movie has a 7.7 rating with 348,533 votes. I’m just saying I wouldn’t put it in my top 10.

7. The Year Without A Santa Claus: This feels Christmas to me! Plus, who doesn’t love the Miser brothers? With a 7.9 rating and 5,627 votes, it looks like we’re all on the same page.

6. A Christmas Story: I’m going to say something controversial. I’m not a big fan of A Christmas Story (totally blasphemous I’m aware). It’s a fine movie; I’ll watch it at least once during its 24-hour run, but it’s not in my top 10. I know I’m the odd man out with an 8 rating and over 110,000 votes. I just have one last thing to say: you’ll shoot your eye out.

5. The Nightmare Before Christmas: Is it a Halloween movie? Is it a Christmas movie? It’s a year-round movie. With an 8 rating and over 245,000 votes, I’d say we’re all in agreement.

4. Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer: How can you not fall in love with a misfit reindeer who saves Christmas? This movie appropriately has an 8.1 rating with 19,400+ votes.

3. A Charlie Brown Christmas: This movie is a classic and a much watch! With an 8.4 rating and over 24,000 votes, I know what I’m watching tonight.

2. Dr.Suess’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas: I may or may not have procrastinated this post because I was watching this movie. With an 8.4 rating and 35,000 votes, you all understand!

1. It’s A Wonderful Life: I prefer to watch It’s A Wonderful Life during Donna Reed night, but I understand why it’s number 1. With an 8.6 rating and 310,300 votes, so does everyone else!

What do you guys think? Whether your favorites are here or not, I hope you’re enjoying all the holiday movies!
