We’re doing a flashback Friday this week and tackling some favorites. Not just any favorites though, we’re sticking with skin care. Favorites for all the skin care essentials!
Cleansers:
What better place to start than the first step of skin care! I’ve tried a handful of different cleansers over the years. Younger me always went for the drugstore brands and honestly they were great at the time. However, my lack of responsibility with my skin and getting older has made me step up my skin care!
So, if you’re lucky enough to have low maintenance skin here are some drugstore cleansers for you!
Clean & Clear Morning Burst: This was by far my favorite morning cleanser. It genuinely wakes you up. The two greatest things a cleanser can offer are various scents and targeting specific concerns. This cleanser does both! Each scent offers different waking agent like, ginseng and caffeine. The different scents also target specific concerns like, detoxing or hydrating. 10/10 recommend.
Clean & Clear Night Relaxing: So, you probably don’t want to give your skin a caffeine kick before bed. In which case, Clean & Clear has you covered. Their Night Relaxing line is just that; super calming, relaxing, and the perfect unwinding moment.
Clean & Clear Essentials: Skin care can be totally confusing and honestly overwhelming, especially if you’re just getting into it. One of my favorite things Clean & Clear offers is their Essentials line. Each product in the line is numbered so you know where it should go in your routine. Psst: Essentials Foaming Facial Cleanser is step 1!
Neutrogena: Three words: Pink Grapefruit Cleanser. For me it has always been a Holy Grail drugstore product! It helps with problem pimples and makes my skin feel less inflamed.
Now, if you’re anything like me and have embraced the idea of skin care on a more extravagant level then I have a few higher end {for lack of a better word} products that I’ve been o b s e s s e d with.
Bareminerals Pureness: I FREAKIN’ love Bareminerals. I love their makeup, so when I stumbled upon their skin care I was beyond stoked! They offer different lines within their skin care line. My first exposure was with their Pureness line. I swear by this gel cleanser. It smells amazing and feels like butter on your skin. It’s made with coconut water, coconut milk, and prickly pear. I’m always worried about things making my skin oily and this cleanser helps with all the extra oils, but doesn’t make my skin feel dry or tight. The best part, its vegan, paraben-free, cruelty free, and SLS free!
Bareminerals Poreless: Full transparency, I struggle with pores. I always feel like I have enlarged pores and I never feel like I’m REALLY getting them clean. Sounds disgusting, I know. This cleanser is a clay cleanser, so it’s extra creamy without feeling super heavy on my skin. Again, oils are always a concern, but I never have to worry when I’m using Bareminerals. They’re also always vegan, paraben-free, cruelty free, and SLS free! *Major selling point personally*
Glossier Milky Jelly Cleanser: If you couldn’t tell I’m a huge fan of any vegan, paraben-free, and cruelty free products. So, Glossier is right up my ally. Confession Session: I’ve only been using this cleanser for 9 days. With that being said, I am obsessed with this cleanser. This cleanser is exactly what it says it is, super jelly and milky. I was definitely concerned about oiliness *again, maybe take a shot every time I use a variation of the word oil* but it makes my skin feel so soft and plump. Definitely recommend!
Toner:
I’m an advocate for toner. I truly believe it’s an essential for any and all skin care routines. If you’re new to the toner step or again are lucky enough to have low maintenance skin then I have one drugstore brand for you.
Clean & Clear Essentials: Are we surprised this is the first one? No because it works and it works well. It’s the second step in the Essentials line!
Being a toner enthusiast I’ve tried a few different toners. If you love toners or maybe you’re a VSCO girl you’ve definitely tried Mario Badescu. Personal favorite, but I’m here to tell you about two new favorites.
Bareminerals Poreless: This toner exfoliates and reduces all the extra oils. Do I need to say more? My skin feels great every time I use it. It looks less oily *how many times can I use this word till it loses all meaning* and less red. My pores also look minimized, especially when I use it in tandem with the clay cleanser.
Kopari coconut rose water {spray}: This is a more recent find. I’ve been using the Kopari coconut deodorant for a little over a year, so I got really excited to venture into more of their skin products. I’ve been using this toner for a week and I’m head over heels. I’ve noticed a difference in my coloring. My skin looks less red and just feels more soothed over all!
Face Moisturizer:
The final and possibly most crucial step for skin care routines. I don’t know about anyone else, but I LOVE when my skin feels silky soft. My face is no exception! I have oily *seriously, can someone count how many times I’ve used this word* skin as well as dry skin. My biggest concern is always getting ample hydration for my skin while avoiding looking like I haven’t washed my face in 8 months. If you have similar issues or maybe just one of those issues, I have a few products that might be worth a looksee.
Clean & Clear Essentials: This is the third and final step of the Essentials line. This is a tried and true product! I used this moisturizer all through high school and college. It’s never once made me look super shiny. It lies nicely under makeup, keeps your skin feeling soft, and helps prevent those problem pimples. A real triple threat!
After years with my trusted drugstore brand I decided it was time to try higher end {again for lack of a better word} brands. So, what brand did I go with?
Bareminerals Poreless: This stuff is amazing, especially when you’re using the trifecta: cleanser, toner, and moisturizer. I noticed my pores getting smaller. My skin also started to feel smoother. This is an oil *someone give me a new word* free moisturizer, so my skin doesn’t look shiny after I apply it and it plays well with my makeup.
Bareminerals Pureness: I’ll be honest this was an accidental purchase, but I wasn’t mad at it. The Pureness moisturizer is definitely creamier and it’s great if you have sensitive skin. It leaves my skin feeling hydrated without feeling heavy or greasy. It also lies nicely under my makeup and works great in tandem with the cleanser. You can never go wrong with Bareminerals!
I miss all the favorites people use to post, so I hope you enjoyed this flashback Friday favorites all in one moment!
