Summer Style

If you’ve been following me for a little while then you might know that I’m seriously passionate about fashion.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about then go read Spring Fashion, cause you’re seriously missing out!

In honor of the first week and a half of summer we’re diving into some of my favorite trends and biggest tips.

Full disclosure, summer isn’t my favorite fashion season. I struggle with a lot of insecurities and I know that I’m not alone. So, this piece is dedicated to anyone struggling to feel like their most confident self this season.

Two words: effortless fashion; it’s all you need to know this season!

Rompers: The thing you need in your life; a staple piece dedicated to inclusivity! It’s one of the most effortless pieces you can put on your body. Rompers are so flattering and perfect for summer. What’s not to love? You can pop a romper on look put together, look fantastic, and no one will ever guess you rolled out of bed 10 minutes ago. A romper is also one of the most versatile pieces to ever grace your closet. With just a few tweaks any romper can go from super casual to a night on the town kind of vibe. What’s the best way to make any outfit casual? Sneakers; sneakers are the key to creating a casual mood. Since its summer plain flip-flops and plain sandals can also create that casual mood. Do you know what else creates a casual vibe? T-shirt; adding a t-shirt is one of my favorite tips. As I mentioned at the beginning I struggle with insecurities, especially in the summer. My arms are a major issue personally, so I prefer things with sleeves. Unfortunately, not all rompers have sleeves. So, adding a cute graphic tee or even a plain tee under my sleeveless rompers makes them super cute and gives me more confidence. Not to mention it’s a great way to recycle pieces, keep them fresh and new and you never have to worry about an outfit repeater situation. If shoes make an outfit casual they can also make an outfit ooze with night vibes. All it takes is a great pair of wedges {sandal or not} or the perfect peep toe!

Bike shorts: The greatest trend on the scene and the perfect transition piece coming out of quarantine. Did quarantine spoil you? Yeah, me too. These shorts are an obsession that needs to be shared. They’re comfortable, flattering, and of course effortless. Maybe you’re running late one day and all your rompers are in the wash, but you still want to be trendy. What do you do? Chuck on a pair of bike shorts, oversized graphic {or plain} tee, and a pair of sneakers and BAM! You’re trendy and out the door in less than 5 minutes. Is there anything better? *My podcast off the Paigee, listen and subscribe you won’t regret it* These shorts are a crucial part of any summer wardrobe. Aside from being super effortless and comfortable, you can’t forget about the comfort, they’re practical. Is there a dress or skirt in your closet that looks amazing on, but is a little too short? We all have that, but how do we fix it? Bike shorts; bike shorts underneath short clothing revives the clothing and allows you to wear it confidently and comfortably. Only downfall, the lack of pockets! Can we have more pockets please?

Bra tops: These are a wonderful invention and should be in every closet across America. I understand that I stated my arm insecurities, but hear me out! When I find a tank top that I’m comfortable in it’s a game changer! First and foremost these tops are cute and minimalistic. They’re an ideal basic to have. They’re great on their own, but they’re great underneath jackets, sweaters, and etc. These shirts are soft, stretchy, and supportive. They form to your body when you put them on, which is fantastic, but they don’t feel restricting. It’s also a thicker material, but its breathable, so their perfect to wear alone in the summer. It’s also ribbed and ridiculously flattering. It’s designed so you don’t have to wear a bra. Could you ask for anything better? The best part would have to be the neckline. It’s a V-neck, but it’s not an overpowering V-neck. There are various colors, patterns, and straps to chose from. So, there’s something for everyone.

High waist shorts: The greatest thing next to high waist pants. Bike shorts are great, but sometimes you just need pockets or real pants. There’s something wildly flattering about where high waist denim hits on your waistline, especially when you find the perfect crop top to pair it with. You know the one that hits just above the denim. The only thing better than the perfect crop top is perfect fitting denim. You know the kind of denim that hugs all the right places without cutting off your circulation. Denim isn’t the only short offering a high waist. Flowy; a flowy short offers a comfortable option with the same flattering waistline. Who wouldn’t want to look nice and still maintain levels of comfort? Plus a flowy short won’t stick to your skin on a hot day like denim. No one wants that. That’s never a good look or feeling.

T-shirt dress and slip dress: What’s the first piece of clothing you think of when you think of summer? Dresses, a trend for all times. As exciting as it is to put pieces together and create outfits, sometimes you just need one thing. Rompers accomplish that, but sometimes you want something a little more freeing. T-shirt dresses give you that in a sleek and minimal fashion. They’re also another piece that can be casual or dressed to the nines with the right pair of shoes. A graphic t-shirt dress is also a fantastic statement piece. The best part; t-shirt dresses almost always have sleeves! An upcoming trend, slip dresses. Unfortunately, they usually don’t have sleeves. But have no fear t-shirts are here! Can you tell layering is a major trick? Don’t let them fool you; it’s not just a cold weather hack. Two words: light layers.

Denim jacket: Hear me out; a jacket is crucial for all seasons, especially when they’re light and functional. Do you remember the before times? You know, the times where we could go to bars, restaurants, and malls. There would be at least a 15-degree temperature change. So, you’re dressed for the 90-degree day in the sun, but spending your time in the shaded breezy air conditioning. How would you handle the change? I know! A denim jacket; you’ll be warm, cute, and it’s easy to tie around your waist when your back in the sun. Plus, think of all the pockets! Do yourself a favor and invest in a denim jacket. It’ll last for years and it’s a trend that will never go out of style.

The summer might not be filled with the most comfortable styles, but own it. The greatest thing about fashion is the individuality it creates. Wear what makes you feel good and be your most confident you!
