Because it’s important

It’s 9:26 pm, Monday night, and I was just about to write my post for tomorrow. But something doesn’t feel right. There is so much going on in the world it feels unnatural to talk about something lighthearted. Don’t get me wrong; it can be freeing to focus on the lighthearted things during tough times. But it’s important to recognize when glossing over things adds to a problem.

There has been so much bloodshed in the last couple of weeks. I don’t want a lighthearted piece to be the first thing you all read from me this week. Instead, I want to encourage you all to read a news article or check out a news organization’s social pages. I can’t stress how important it is to stay informed. I know that I won’t be able to say enough about recent outrages. I know that there is nothing I can say that will provide justice for these outrages. The best thing that I can do is encourage people to be informed and let people know that I am here.

Every single person deserves a chance to have their voice heard! My heart goes out to the Asian-American community. You all deserve better. Creating that better environment starts with listening, learning, and being there to support.

My heart also goes out to Boulder, Colorado. The news broke while I was writing this. I can’t even begin to fathom the devastation this community is going through. I’m sending love and well wishes!

Please, take the time this week, at least once, to read about what is happening.
