It’s been a bit since I’ve done a routine post. It’s also been a while since I’ve attempted to be better in the mornings. So, why not kill two birds with one stone?
I’m not a morning person. I attempted to be a morning person once. It didn’t go well, but I also tried to be a morning person before the sun came up. Let’s just say 5 am and I are not friends. You can check the story behind that status here.
This time I’m not trying to be a morning person. I’m trying to take my current routine and amplify it. When this year started, I wanted to stop my social scrolling first thing in the morning. I haven’t done the best job, but I’m putting in the effort. The days that start without the social scrolling feel more productive.
If 2021 is going to be THE year, I need to be on my A-game. I believe making subtle life changes will do that. If cutting out social scrolling in the morning can cause more productivity. Could you imagine what a morning revamp could do?
I was watching Tara Michelle on YouTube. In one of her latest vlogs, she shared a TikTok routine. And don’t you know it was a morning one? According to TikTok, if I incorporate these few things, my life will be better. I’m going to put this TikTok to the test.
Morning challenge part II! But new and improved!
My days typically start at 7 am. So, for the next month, I’m going to incorporate these steps. Will it make my life better? Will it be hard to add these steps? Do any of these steps help with stress or anxiety? Will my mornings feel more enjoyable? I want to be more productive, but I also want to see the appeal of mornings. Will a handful of steps do that?
Step 1: Make my bed
Making my bed is the first thing I do in the morning. My day cannot start until my bed is made. Having my bed made before breakfast makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something. But don’t take my word for it, make your bed tomorrow as soon as you get up. Start your day feeling accomplished.
Step 2: Drink a whole glass of water
I’ve tried this, but I always fail. Are we shocked? The girl who can’t remember to drink water can’t drink a full cup first thing in the morning. The 50th time is the charm, right?
Step 3: Breath work
Um, I don’t know what this means. I’m going to take a wild guess and say breathing exercises. It ties into one of my resolutions this year. I need to be better about taking a breath.
Step 4: 1 minute of meditation
I tried meditating for a day. I’m open to it. I’d honestly like to be into it, so I’m hoping this will help. It’s giving me the push I need.
Step 5: Journal for 1 minute
The thought of this one stresses me out. We all know I love to write. We all know that I’m into journaling. We also know I’m a perfectionist. I feel like this could go super well or go colossally wrong. But it’s worth a shot.
Step 6: Exercise for 1 minute
Alright, my morning workout is usually an hour. But for the sake of this challenge, I’m going to add a minute of jumping jacks. That’s what the TikTok says.
Step 7: Gratitude
Write down things like you already have them. I feel like it goes with my manifesting for 2021. Is it just me, or are these steps aligning with my resolutions?
Step 8: Read a page of a book (or something for self-development)
I’m reading a book a month. This month I’m reading Calm the f*** down by Sarah Knight. Is that perfect timing, or what?
I have high expectations for this challenge. I think it’s going to go well *knocks on wood.* But I don’t want to jinx myself! I started today, February 2, 2021. Of course, February is only 28 days. That’s poor planning on my part. So, I will update you all on March 2, 2021. Be sure to subscribe because you don’t want to miss it!
